I assume this book was a scanned version of the original (and I remember when the original was released) as there are no pictures and many misprints. The misprints are a little disconcerting but the content of what the author Mr. Brown presents is understandable. If you enjoy reading about Oriental philosophy to continue to understand the culture and mind-set, this is worth struggling thru, make the corrections and re-read it. It was an enjoyable adventure in my opinion to read.Product details

I've read other books of Chinese proverbs and idioms. However, this one is the best written yet. Others have seemed confusing and clunky. This one, written in 1938, is easy to understand and much more clear. It includes, not just Confucius, but Mencius, Lao Tzu, Chuang Tzu, Yu Tse, Yang Chu, Kang-Hsi and Kuan-yi-wu. There are also Chinese poetry, proverbs and Moral Maxims. All are definitely food for thought. I highly recommend this book!
